We know Scripturally, Who, What, Where, How, When, and the Why of Jesus and Sheol.
Let us now peer through the eyes scriptures and see what happened to Sheol when Paradise was lifted to the Heavens. Let us also peer through the eyes of bible prophesy to see what the future holds for Sheol and Paradise.
The bible tells us that upon Jesus' Crucifixion He descended into Sheol.
Jesus gathered His people together who were held captive. This place of
captivity for the righteous was Paradise (Abraham's Bosom). Jesus lead
captivity captive. (Ephesians 4:8-10) Therefore He says: “When He
ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”(Now
this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended
into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who
ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)
Sheol Enlarges Itself
This great void left in Sheol is engulfed to expand Hades ability to hold future captives. (Isaiah 5:14) Therefore Sheol has enlarged itself, And opened its mouth beyond measure; Their glory and their multitude and their pomp, And he who is jubilant, shall descend into it.
In
Hades there is also a deepest part in and abyss that is for Fallen
Angels only. Note: This is within Hades so it is contained within its
compartment. This deepest abyss is called Tartarus. The future of Tartarus, Sheol, and Hades is etched in Scriptures.
Hell is only translated Tartarus once in the bible (2 Peter 2:4). Tartarus is a place exclusively for the imprisonment of fallen angels.Tartarus From άρταρος Tartaros̄ (the deepest abyss of Hades); to incarcerate in eternal torment: - cast down to hell. Tartarus at no time holds the souls of any human beings. Tartarus is exclusively a prison for fallen angels.
(2 Peter 2:4) For if God did not spare the angels who sinned, but cast them down to hell (Tartarus) and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved for judgment. This verse makes us beg the question. Reserved for what judgment?
Great White Throne Judgment
The
Great White Throne Judgment is in everyone’s future. Right now at the
time of death, the souls of the lost go directly to Hades in Sheol,
where they suffer in torment until the time of the Great White Throne
Judgment. At this time all lost souls will be resurrected. These souls,
Satan along with fallen angels, all will be cast into their future
eternal home in The Lake of Fire. Sheol is emptied, becoming moving day for Hell! Sheol and its inhabitants both, are cast into The Lake of Fire!
(Revelation 20:11-15) And I saw a great white throne,
and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled
away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small
and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book
was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of
those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell
delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man
according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Gehenna is Greek for Hell
Scripture passages in which Gehenna
is used should be distinguished from those using Hades, which refers to
a place of temporary torment that we might refer to as the immediate,
or present, Hell. Presently all lost souls of the dead are there right
now; and those who die in their sins, will immediately go there to join
them.
The Greek word Gehenna γέεννα géenna is always translated hell. This is the word used by Jesus and the disciples. (Matthew 10:28) And
do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But
rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell (Gehenna).
The reason Ancient Jews of the day used the word Gehenna is because it was a familiar term in reference to physical location of the time. The name Gehenna comes from a deep narrow ravine south of Jerusalem where child sacrifices were conducted and offered to the Ammonite god, Molech, during the time of the Kings. This pagan deity is also referred to as Malcham, Milcom, and Moloch in the Bible.
(2 Kings 16:3) But
he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to
pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen,
whom the Lord cast out from before the children of Israel. (2 Chronicles 28:1-3) Ahaz
was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen
years in Jerusalem: but he did not that which was right in the sight of
the Lord, like David his father: For he walked in the ways of the kings
of Israel, and made also molten images for Baalim. Moreover he burnt
incense in the valley of the son of Hinnom, and burnt his children in
the fire, after the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast
out before the children of Israel.
This
valley later served as the city dump where there was continuous burning
of refuse. This was a real and graphic symbol of a place of punishment
for the wicked. It was named the “Valley of Hinnom,” which translated
into Greek becomes Gehenna.
The
word Gehenna when considered in context becomes clear. Jesus and the
Disciples used this word as a reference to explain to people a place of
everlasting punishment. A place reserved for the wicked dead, not the
city dump.
The Final Hell
One of the Greatest Perversion of Scriptures influenced by
Satan was to convince the world that there is no Eternal Hell to Fear!
The Lake of Fire, or Hell, is a literal place of everlasting fire that
was originally created by God as a place of punishment for Satan and the
angels that followed him in his rebellion against God. (Matthew 25:41)
“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you
cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
Satan and the angels are cast to a place referred to as “outer darkness.” (Matthew 8:12) But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 25:30) And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. The lake of fire is located at the farthest reaches of the creation's “outer darkness”. Out away from presence of all that is Holy in Heaven.
Gehenna, or the Lake of Fire, is the future or final Hell. Hell originally created for Satan and his entourage, “the fallen angels” however; all the unsaved of humanity from all ages will be with them in this place of torment, where “there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth” forevermore. (Matthew 13:42). This is the “everlasting reward” of all that die in their sins.
When Paradise Joins Heaven
Listen and Hear the truth from the Book of Revelation. The Tree of Life is in Paradise. (Revelation 2:7) He
that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;
To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is
in the midst of the paradise of God.
Man was driven out of the Garden of Eden (Paradise) so that He could not eat of the fruit of the Tree of Life and live forever in his sin. Scripture tells us that the garden of Eden is now guarded because it contains the One tree of life. Then the Lord
God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and
evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of
life, and eat, and live forever”— therefore the Lord God
sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was
taken. So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of
the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard
the way to the tree of life.
In
(Revelation 22:2) we see that the bride of Christ, New Jerusalem, Brand
New Heaven, The Marriage Supper of the Lamb all of which encompass the
forever eternal untainted Holy communion of Angels, God, and Mankind now
has Two Trees of Life. (Revelation 22:2) In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life,
which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month:
and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
(Revelation 22:14)
Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to
the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
This verse shows us a picture of all believers after the Great White
Throne Judgment and the Wedding Supper of the Lamb. We can now enter the
final New Heaven which contains Paradise. Eden used as its landscaping,
and restored to its original intended use. A landscaped garden and a
piece of the Eternal Home for Man.
Have
You accepted Jesus as Your Lord and Savior? Will You Eat of the Tree of
Life? Will You come and be a Part of Paradise in God's Love
Forevermore?
Or
Pray this Prayer...“Dear
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I
believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I trust and believe
that You are my Lord, God, and Savior. Guide my life and teach me to do
Your will. In Your name ‘Jesus’ I pray, Amen.”
